10 Things I Said WTF to in April / #11 (2024)

Welcome to 10 Things I said WTF to, an edition of WTF that will arrive in your inboxes on the last Monday of each month. It will be a round up of ten things from the ending month that have made me say WTF - all for various reasons, good or bad. Ranging from something minuscule and mundane like a recipe i’m loving, or bigger life issues and chaotic world events. Maybe you’ll discover some new things to try, buy, eat or watch!

  1. Glossier Strawberry Balm Dot Com

A post shared by @glossier

In my mind there’s always been a strawberry version of the Balm Dot Com??? Maybe because it’s such a classic flavour, but it took seeing this post by Glossier to make me realise there wasn’t. I’m usually a coconut or birthday cake kinda gal, but for some reason I am extremely excited about the strawberry!! It screams summer and I think we’re all doing anything possible right now to feel a little bit more summer-y, so I will 100% be purchasing! I’m still yet to have a balm with the new applicator and I think I’m gonna love it? I definitely prefer applying with the balm vs using your fingers so I’m looking forward to trying it.

  1. This T-Shirt

10 Things I Said WTF to in April / #11 (2)

Slogan-y tee’s always trigger me slightly just because I was a teenager in the Topshop Geek tee era. So, I usually tend to stay away from them, also because I also know that they’re usually the thing in my wardrobe that I get bored of quite quickly and end up wearing as a pyjama t-shirt. But…I saw Peggy Gou in a variation of this design and for some reason I love it, even if it is slightly tacky? Just so fun.

  1. Overnight Oats

10 Things I Said WTF to in April / #11 (3)

My whole life I’ve never been a breakfast person, I don’t get hungry till mid morning and always seem to crave savoury over sweet. Which means by the time 10am rolls around all I want is a giant sandwich. But a few months ago I discovered Gails overnight oats and they changed my life!! Obviously I can’t be spending £5 on oats every single morning so I took it upon myself to re-create them at home, and they may even be better? I’ve been eating them every single morning for 3ish weeks now and am yet to get bored!

Oats Recipe (I just eyeball everything…sorry not very helpful, measure with your heart!)

  • Oats

  • Milk (Whatever type you prefer!)

  • Greek Yoghurt (Plain or flavoured! I usually go plain, but have just tried cherry and can confirm also delish)

  • Shredded Apple (Granny Smith ideally)

  • Maple Syrup/Honey/Agave

  • Cinnamon

  • Chia Seeds

  • Almond Butter

  • Shredded Coconut

  • Fruit Compote (I like the blueberry one from Lidl)

Recipe

  • Basically just mix the oats, chia seeds, milk, yoghurt, shredded apple, sweetener and cinnamon together.

  • Leave in the fridge overnight!

  • Scoop into portions & top with fruit compote, more cinnamon, shredded coconut and almond butter.

  1. Brooke Callahan

10 Things I Said WTF to in April / #11 (4)

I recently discovered Brooke Callahan ‘s designs and they are the perfect pieces for summer! I’m particularly lusting after this brown tie skirt, but also love the purple tie pants & bud straight skirt. Truly timeless pieces you’ll wear over and over again!

  1. Renee Rapp x The L Word @ Coachella

The cast of The L Word introducing Renee Rapp at Coachella is absolutely iconic, and if you haven’t ever watched it then I recommend you do, immediately. If you like Sex and The City and similar shows then you’ll love it! This confirmed I will never not be in love with Katherine Moennig and has reignited my Shane obsession.

  1. Joe and The Juice Blueberry Matcha

10 Things I Said WTF to in April / #11 (7)

All I have to say about this is that it’s nowhere near as good as the Blank Street one, save your pennies.

  1. Immaculate

10 Things I Said WTF to in April / #11 (8)

If you know me, you know I love a good horror! So the other night I watched ‘Immaculate’ at home after not getting around to seeing it at the cinema, and it was so much better than I expected. First of all, I’m a strong believer that an hour and a half is the perfect length for any film - so as soon as I noticed the length (1hr29m) it was in my good books. But the actual film was so so good, super interesting and creepy, but not too many jump scares to make it cringe. Sydney Sweeney was amazing! Especially in the very end scene, but I don’t want to spoil that for you. I also couldn’t stop looking at the nun’s outfits and thinking lots about pinafores, Sandy Liang and the ease of wearing a uniform. May touch on that in an upcoming newsletter! But definitely go watch it, because it was fab!

I trust that Miss Peaches & Dave Portnoy are all over your FYP…but if not then let me quickly explain. Dave Portnoy owns Barstool Sports, and that’s pretty much all I know about him, but he recently rescued Miss Peaches and she’s become an internet sensation. Which honestly warms my heart because I’ve always had rescue staffordshire bull terriers and loveeeee bull breeds so much, and believe they are the most loving dogs!!! So I’m happy someone who has such a big following is raising awareness for how many of these beautiful dog’s need homes. He has truly fallen in love with Miss Peaches and so has the internet, he just took her to a gala and I literally couldn’t get over her dress, so had to share it here.

  1. Vestiaire

10 Things I Said WTF to in April / #11 (11)

I’ve become addicted to scrolling Vestiaire every evening and can’t even comprehend the bargains on there!!!! (Shared a little sneak peek at my favourites above). I usually like to search quite specifically for brands or items, mostly Balenciaga city bags recently, and then set it to UK only and adjust the price filter. Setting to UK only is so so helpful because there’s nothing worse than falling in love with something, adding it to your basket and then seeing all the insane extra added fee’s. Sometimes it can even double the price, which makes it slightly less of a bargain. But I have found some real gems, and feel like it’s so good for discovering and shopping for your personal style.

  1. This Tik Tok!

Apologies for all the video content on this newsletter…I may have been scrolling a bit too much recently. This popped up on my FYP and I was absolutely obsessed with all of this girl’s outfits and felt so inspired to recreate with my own wardrobe!!
